Register of Deeds
The Register of Deeds is an elected position and is required by the Laws of the State of Kansas to record all documents meeting the recording standards. This office maintains, preserves, and is the guardian of all accurate real estate records for the citizens of Wallace County.
The Register of Deeds office records many different kinds of documents. Examples are deeds, mortgages, oil & gas leases, military discharges, power of attorneys, cemetery deeds, death certificates, affidavits, and many more.
All records in the office are required by law to be open to the public for inspection during regular business hours, per the Kansas Open Records Act, except information on the Sales Validation Questionnaire and Military Discharges.
All fees collected by the Register of Deeds office are set by state statue, KSA 28-115. These fees must be paid at the time of recording.
